브룩 벤튼(Brook Benton 1931.9.19일-1988.4.9)은 미국 South Carolina 주 Lugoff 에서 출생한 가수다. ainy Night In Georgia는 루이지애나 출신의 로커 토니 조 화이트(Tony Joe White)가 만들었고 토니의 1968년 앨범 Continued에서 처음 발표한 곡이다. 롤링 스톤 선정 위대한 500곡 중 2004년 498위에 올랐다. 이 곡의 가사는 화자가 갈 곳이 없다는 것을 깨닫고 체념한 상태로 외로움과 싸우는 곡이다. 브룩의 재기앨범인 에 수록된 이 곡은 멜랑콜리한 분위기가 즉각적인 반응을 얻어냈고 1970년 봄 최고로 많이 팔린 소울 싱글에 올랐다. 빌보드 싱글 차트는 4위까지 올랐고 A/C 차트에서는 2위까지 올랐다. 이후 100만장 이상 팔려나간 싱글로 인정받아 2004년 미국 음반협회에서는 골드 디스크를 수여했다. 총 8곡의 10위권 곡을 발표했던 브룩에겐 이 곡이 마지막 탑 텐 곡이었다. 브룩은 1988년 폐렴으로 사망했다.
